Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Fundamentals (DP-900) is a beginner Microsoft certification route. RDE offers certification preparation; Microsoft awards the credential when you satisfy its examination requirements.

Start here if you are beginning to work with cloud data. This credential is not a compulsory prerequisite for more advanced data certifications.

Preparation and practical development
Use the official study guide to identify knowledge gaps, work through relevant Microsoft Learn materials and practise the skills in a suitable learning environment. Check resource or cloud-service charges before using a lab. Discuss RDE learning activities and support arrangements before enrolment.
Exam and certification
The examination associated with this route is DP-900. RDE does not currently include a Microsoft examination voucher. Book and pay for the official examination separately through Microsoft's authorised booking process. Preparation or attendance alone does not award this credential.
Validity and renewal
Fundamentals certification does not expire; provider retirement policies still apply.
Career context
Certification can support evidence of relevant skills, but experience, practical work and employer requirements determine suitability for a role. It does not guarantee employment or salary.
