CompTIA Tech+ is a foundational certification for people beginning their journey into technology and digital roles. RDE offers this as a certification-preparation route aligned to the current CompTIA Tech+ objectives.
What the preparation covers
The route develops understanding of essential technology concepts and terminology, infrastructure, applications and software, software development concepts, data and database fundamentals, security, and the practical use of technology in everyday work. It is suitable as an entry point before progressing to more specialised CompTIA pathways.
Exam and certification
RDE does not currently include a CompTIA exam voucher with this preparation route. Candidates register for and pay for the official CompTIA examination separately through CompTIA's current authorised exam-booking process. CompTIA awards the certification only after the candidate successfully satisfies the applicable examination requirements.
Who this route is for
This route is suitable for career starters, career changers, students, digital support staff and professionals who want a broad technology foundation before moving into support, networking, cybersecurity, data or other technical pathways.
Entry guidance
CompTIA states that no prior experience is necessary. This is a starting point for exploring technology before choosing a specialist route.
Practical preparation
Explain a small workplace technology setup and practise identifying common applications, connectivity and security needs. These are suggested practice activities. RDE will confirm the preparation format and any available lab access before enrolment.
Assessment format
The current Tech+ exam has a maximum of 70 multiple-choice questions and lasts 60 minutes. Confirm whether your intended booking uses FC0-U71 or the CE variant. Check the official booking process for current delivery and identification requirements.
Validity and renewal
FC0-U71 has no expiry; FC0-U71-CE is valid for five years and requires renewal. Confirm the exam variant before booking. Eligible renewal activities, evidence and fees depend on the credential and renewal path. Check the official policy before arranging renewal.
